Meet the University Ombudsman!

Dolores Gómez-Morán has been working with students in higher education for more than 20 years, and has held the role of the University Ombudsman at George Mason University since July 2007. Previously, she worked as the Ombudsman for Student Academic Affairs at Mason for eight years, and has also served in Mason's Office Diversity Programs and Services as Associate Director. In addition to English, Gómez-Morán is fluent in Spanish, Italian and French.

A licensed psychologist from the University of Oviedo, Spain, she also holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and Organizational Studies from Boston College. In addition Gómez-Morán is certified in Conflict Resolution Processes and serves as a mediator for the General District Court by the State of Virginia. Gómez-Morán is an active member of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), and has served on several committees within the organization. In addition to the IOA, Gómez-Morán has presented at the European Network of Ombudsmen in Higher Education (ENOHE) and the Virginia Mediation Networking Group (VMG). In 2007, she was honored with the Margaret Howell award in recognition of all of her contributions to the University.
